The poem “Bonga Sore” was written by Sarada Prasad Kisku which can be found on “Sarada Anol Mala”. This is a cultural poem. It’s reflects the santal’s worshiping rituals and how the villagers perform their roles on this work. The poem has 24 lines which can be divided in three stranger. In the first passage reflects the process of decorating the worshiping place called ‘Jaher or Jaherthan” and second passage shows who and how worship is done and last passage shows the after work of worshiping.
Through
this poem we can know the importance and the obsession of santal’s culture. In
the first para poet mentioned how people together collect wood pole and make
a small thatched roof. We can know that for this work only bachelor men are eligible
and they only can use Sal tree pols.
In
second passage we can find out what they offer to God and who have the
permission to do that among villagers. Here we can also got clarity why
santal’s have animal sacrifice rituals and which animal can be sacrificed. Last
passage is the main theme which is “Bonga Sore”. In this passage poet mentioned
after work of worshiping. When they collect the wood and leaf for making hotchpotch
from the meat of sacrificed animals. This event is not just for eat and enjoy.
It’s shows the social bond of their daily life’s doing. Through this event they
take a indirect approach for being together in every situation. They appreciate
the sacrificed animal’s life and take the burden of this sin and virtue.
